Best Practices for Publishing Newsletters

To avoid getting error messages or having content blocked please follow the publishing best practices for newsletters.

Why would I get an error?

Email providers display messages in HTML. Some may have different guidelines for images used in newsletters, namely size is usually restrictive. If yours does not comply with their guidelines it may result in an error message or blocking the content. It is therefore recommended, especially for large lists, that you create a test account and run all posts through that account prior to publishing.

1. Publish Your Newsletter to a Test Account

To do this, simply create a test channel using your email provider (ie. Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor or Infusionsoft). Then select that channel in the editor and create your newsletter. Publish to that channel and then verify inside of your email provider that it has worked.

2. Clone the Newsletter

Once you have confirmed the results in your email provider account log back into Kudani and clone the post. To do this go to the 'Content' section, find the 'Test Newsletter' and then go to the action icons. Click on the clone icon. This will make an exact replica of the newsletter. You should see a new post with the word  '- Copy' added to the original title. Now click on the edit icon of the cloned post to open it in the editor.

3. Publishing the Newsletter

Once the cloned post is loaded in the editor select the channel where you want to publish it from the channel drop down list. Remove the '- Copy' from the title and publish the post.
